Top 5 YA Books To Give for Christmas

Hi There Blogosphere,

So i accidentally skipped my Wednesday, i had some things going on yesterday that couldn't be avoided, i'm sure it's still Wednesday somewhere in the world... right?

But It's almost Christmas time and i thought i'd share my Top 5 picks for books to give as Christmas presents. I will also being doing some Christmas related videos on youtube so if you have any suggestions let me know below.

Picture this: you have a friends or family member that wants to start reading, they ask you to pick them 5 Young Adult books for Christmas that will convince them that reading really is the best past time (i mean we all know it is, don't we). What do you do? First you read my suggestions, second you head on over to the Book Depository and place you order, third you sit back and relax because you've done a good job.

  1. The Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth:
The Divergent trilogy is a dystopian series set in what was Chicago. Society has been split into 5 factions each representing a particular type of personality: Candor (The honest), Abnegation (The Selfless),  Dauntless (The Brave), Amity (The Peaceful) and Erudite (The Intelligent). The Story picks up when our main character Beatrice, has to choose between staying with her faction, her family or swapping to a faction that represents who she really is. During a challenging initiation Beatrice renames herself Tris, and Tris has a secret she must keep hidden, for revealing this secret could mean death.

Make sure you remember to tell the person you are giving this gift to remember the tissues for the ending of Allegiant.

  2. Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout:
Kat has just moved to West Virginia and Kat's Mum thinks she should make friends with the neighbours. Gathering her courage she knocks on the door and finds her very hot neighbor Daemon. Daemon is infuriating and Arrogant, oh and he is an alien. Turns out Alien Daemon and his Alien sister have a bunch of abilities that their enemies would like to steal, and Daemon's Alien power have lit Kat up like a Christmas Tree (See what i did there). Kat must stick to Daemons side until her light has faded.

Obsidian is book 1 in the Lux series. I have not read the rest of the series, but i will be very soon i can pretty much guarantee i'll love it.

  3. The Summer Trilogy by Jenny Han:

Belly lives her lifes just to get to her Summers. Summer is a place away from life, at the beach house with her Mum and Brother, Susannah and the most important of all Jeremiah and Conrad. The boys have never noticed Belly and then one summer that all changes, Belly has grown into a beautiful young women and the boys that have always been Belly's brother figures, and her crushes are finally starting to notice her.

 4. The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins:
In a horrible, but almost possible, dystopian future a reality show takes places annually called the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a game wher 12 boys and 12 girls (one boy and one girl from each of the 12 districts of panem) are placed in an arena. The rules are simple, be the last person alive. Katniss Everdeen takes her sisters place in the games and believes this is her death sentence. But Katniss has lived her life living on deaths door, so survival is just in her nature.

  5. The Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling:
Harry Potter is about to turn 11. Harry has been treated like nothing his entire life, like he didn't exist, until one day when Harry receives and letter from Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry is a wizard and a famous one at that. Harry makes friends, learns to fly, learns to do magic and learns of the story of his parents death and how the evil wizard Voldermort tried to kill Harry too only to lose his powers instead. There is a destiny for Harry Potter but can Harry survive the destiny that awaits him.

For someone that has never got into reading before these are the books i would start with, for these are the books that made me fall in love with reading again. The Harry Potter is the first series i had read since i was a kid, and i haven't stopped reading since.

I have so many more books that i could recommend, but these are the ones that i'll start with for now. If you want to know more feel free to ask. If you want to buy any of these books or more make sure you check out the Book Depository, (The place where my book addiction got worse)

Until Next Time
